Get organised anywhere with Toodledo

Toodledo is an online application that allows you to access your tasks or create new ones from anywhere via web browser.

If you’re like me, you have pieces of paper stuck all over your desk with lists of things you need to do today, next week, next year and things you just don’t want to forget. Toodledo can help you get your life sorted so you can focus on what’s important for today. It's an online application that's accessible from just about any device via web browser. First, visit www.toodledo.com and sign up. You’ll need an email address and password, but that’s all — enter your details and you’ll be taken straight to the program where you can start entering tasks.

Before you do this, set some of the preferences so it will work better for you. Click the ‘Account Settings’ link on the left of the screen and you can configure various items such as your time zone and regional settings, so your week starts on a Monday or Sunday as desired, as well as set your measurements to kilometres. You can also set the date format to the more comfortable day/month/year.

When you’re done, create folders for organising your tasks neatly. To do this, click Folders on the left of the screen and add folders to organise your tasks by project. For example, if you travel a lot you might create folders for each trip, folders for tasks around the house and some for work projects.

When you’ve set these up, return to the ‘To-Do List’ area and click the ‘Add a Task’ link in the top-right corner of the screen. Type a description into the Task area and then select a folder for it. Click in the ‘Due Date’ box to select a date and if it’s a repetitive task like a monthly report, then set its repeat options. Allocate a priority to it and in the notes, type anything important related to the task, such as a phone number.

Click Add when you’re done. If a task is similar to another one, you can duplicate it. To do this, click the Actions list to the left of the task description and choose ‘Clone This Task’. You can then click on the duplicate and edit it as required. There are lots of options for organising and viewing your tasks, which are selectable from the list of options across the top of the screen.

You can see tasks ordered by due date, those that have been recently completed or by folder. If you first configure your Hotlist settings, you can opt to show tasks with a range of attributes such as due date, importance or if they’re starred.
