After 2or3 searches on Google the tablet locks-up. This can be reset OK again after Power off / reboot. Do I need firmware update ?
About 1 yr old, Android 2.2.1 firmware 2.4.19. Tried to update firmware to 2.4.81 online, but stopped about half way through
I'd suggest Googling the Archos forums to see if there's an issue.
Other than that, possibly try updating the firmware again and seeing if there was just a glitch the first time.
