I am currently in the market for a media device for the theatre room. It needs to store and play all media formats (most possible) from the PC to the big screen (HD of coarse). Would like some internet features and would like it to be relativley user friendly for others in the family too (other than myself). Apple content without recoding would be nice (iphone video/itunes etc). My PC is running on Windows 7.

The more i look the more i find. The more i find the harder it gets to decide (which one).

I believe this can be simply done by playing the video (any Media Player should work) - pausing where he wants the still - then capturing as much of the screen as he wants using Windows 7 Snipping Tool and saving the snip as a *.jpg file.

Hi Darren, I really appreciated your quick response to my aspect ratio
yesterday I had already used media info to verify the aspect ratio.using your settings of 1280x950 i achieved a full screen display
with a black boarder of approx 100mm all round as viewed on a 42in TV

I have downloaded an mkv video file(1280x720-16.9-23.976fps. When i play the file on my Computer or Digital TV the image displayed is full screen horizontally but only 1 third vertically in the cetre of the screenI have changed the aspect ratio to a dozen different variations using RockPod5 and Any Video Converter with out any luck.I have encoded
the file to both Mpeg2 & mp4 but the results remain the same. the image is not squashed. What am i doing wrong?

For some reason graphics (pictures) as thumbnails have started to attach themselves to a number of my saved to desktop podcast sermon (mp3) files. (I am running Windows 7 home premium 32.) Can you please advise me how they can be permanently removed and prevented from reattaching etc.

I have spent HOURS searching for a suitable, entry-level DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and I am still looking. I have gone back and found a few PC User reviews, and while there are a few as being described as easy-to-use for beginners, they only seem to be easy if you already have a lot of live music experience.

i was wondering if there is a progame that puts avi files together. i have avi file that i want to combine into one single avi file

Do you know how I can, or if there is a programme that can, change the audio format in a video file without interfering with the video compression? For example, I want to change a video in MKV format that has 6 channel audio to stereo without changing the video compression.

The CD/DVD player (NEC DVD +-RW ND3530A) on my aging Dell Dimension 4700 series computer is not working properly. The cd player will not read or play cd's, but it can play dvd's and your PC User dvd's. This suggests it is a software problem and not a hardware problem.
I have tried running the System File Checker (sfc / scannow) and have tried updating the cd player driver software from the internet as well as restoring to a previous date. The device manager says the device is working properly.

Live in China. Satellite box via RCA component to RF modulator. RF out to Astone 310 RF IN - doesn't recognise feed. (no signal) Put same feed into Sony Bravia and auto tune and it finds it. (channel 13 - don't know bandwidth or frequency). Bravia auto tunes RF feed TV channels no problems. Astone box does not see any TV channels with same feed, have set country region to Australia > auto tune > no channels. Set China > auto tune > no channels.
