is there a free program that will convert a m4V format DVD to a format that will play on a standard DVD player?

I have been sent a DVD (size 2.62GB) of TV programs broadcast from a norther hemisphere country*, in which a family member features.
The DVD plays on a PC computer, opening with VLC, and Properties list it as m4V (which I understand is Quick Time file format.)

I would like to make copies for family members who do not have a computer, that will play on standard DVD players.
[* not for publication "Come dine with me." Galway.

Have you tried Freemake.

Mv4 is one of the 200 listed input formats supported.

Many thanks Dougall Stewart. I converted the m4V format DVD to mpg format using Freemake Video converter, and using that program then burnt to DVD. Eureka! It now plays perfectly on my Panasonic
DVD -S33 DVD player. Many thanks. Kia Ora. Denis.
