I use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security on my Windows 7 system but I would like to run additional software such as Malware, Adaware etc. What does PCUser recommend for these tasks please. Baz

From what ive read abuot it, it sounds a bit overbloated with quite a few modules with malware checker and registry cleaner plus a few others. No doubt this will slow down boot times a little.

Most notable module in it is the Firewall which has always been top notch from Zone Alarm.

My believe is to use well known small footprint programs which have minimal impact on resources and boot times such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware // C-Cleaner which serves quite a few purposes from cleaning out all the crap left behind as well as dredging and cleaning the registry to being able to enable and disable start-up items without going to msconfig or other.

As for other free bees which fare reasonably well in the Anti Virus stakes with minimal impact on resources, i find Avast or AVG pretty good.

As with all of these free programs always read everything as you install as many come with extra tool-bars such as Google or other which you can disable to prevent their installation. Once installed read the user instructions and set it up to the way you want it to run.

I have come up with the following programs that seem to fill my needs. Malwarebytes, Adaware, Spybot and CCleaner. Thanks for help.
