January 2008 DVD: Serif DrawPlus 6
"InstallShieldEngine (ikernel.exe) could not be installed": Do you get this error message when trying to install DrawPlus? That means you've downloaded the setup.exe file to your PC without the rest of the DrawPlus installation files. The simplest solution is to use our cover disc with Internet Explorer. You don't have to change your default browser. Just run Internet Explorer, then go the "File" menu, select "Open", then "Browse", navigate to your DVD drive and then select and open the DEFAULT.HTM file. (You can add this to Internet Explorer's "Favourties" for future discs). Then, when you click on any "install" icon on our DVD, just choose "Run" and you won't have any problems. If you prefer to use Firefox with our disc, the OpenDownload extension (from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/207) will allow you "Run" files from our cover disc, so you won't have any problems with programs which have multiple installation files. June 2007 DVD: missing "default2.htm"
Do you get an error message when you load the June cover disc: "default2.htm can't be found"? That's a bug that only affects users with a screen resolution with 800 by 600 pixels or less. The easiest solution is to increase your screen resolution before the cover disc launches. Right-click on your Windows desktop (anywhere without an icon) and select "Properties" to launch the Display Properties box. Click on the "Settings" tab and then use the Screen Resolution slider to increase resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels or more, and click OK. After using our cover disc, you can change back the resolution if you want. Apologies for any inconvience and we'll have the bug fixed for next month.

June 2007 DVD: Serif 3DPlus

May 2007 DVD: Paragon Partition Manager
Please note the installation link for this full version program does not work. However, you can still install Paragon Partition Manager 8.0SE from the cover disc manually: Launch My Computer, right-click on your DVD drive, select "Open", then navigate to the "Software" folder, then the "Full" folder, then the "Paragon Partition Manager" folder and double-click on the .exe file. April 2007 incorrect pricing
An incorrect price was given to PC User for MSI's Megabook L745 reviewed on page 36 of the April 2007 edition. The correct price for this notebook is $2499.00. On page 70 of the same issue, the price for the full version of Windows Vista Business is incorrect; it is available for $569.

February 2007 BIOS Update CD Image File
As described in Darren Yates' tutorial "BIOS updates with a bootable CD" in PC User's February 2007 issue, you can build your own bootable CD with your BIOS update files by downloading our free bootable image file, thanks to FreeDOS. Note this will only work if your PC can boot via a CD. Using a burning tool, such as the freeware program CDBurnerXP Pro, you create what’s called an “El Torito” CD. It has two partitions: the bootable partition containing our bootable image file (PCU_CD_Boot_Basic.IMA) and a second partition that holds your BIOS update files.
