How can I fix my hotmail address?

OLDER QUESTION
I need to tell you my Hotmail problem. No-one can email me. It just doesn't work. I've emailed myself from another address and it didn't get through. I have no idea what's wrong and it's been going on for months. I'd like to delete my Hotmail address and start a new one - please tell me how to do this.

 Hi Robyn. We haven't used your last name because it's a bit too easy to work out your Hotmail address from it.
Hotmail accounts are maintained on another server, and the settings don't have anything to do with your computer's settings. You should be able to log on from any Internet-connected PC. The Hotmail people should be able to tell you if there's some particular problem with your account.
As for getting a new one -- it's as easy as going to the Hotmail site and registering a new account. But since you've already got a personalised account, I'd suggest you also get that one working again.
Oh, and remember that a common reason for not being able to use your email account is that you've forgotten what it is, and you're trying to log in to a nonexistent account. For instance, if you email is lovelylips@hotmail.com and you tell people that it's lovelylips@hotmail.com.au (note the extra .au) then you'll never get it. Ditto for lovely_lips@hotmail.com and any other misspelling. Paul Zucker

(No, there's no way to change your ID. (Easy. Either you have one of them wrong or someone else has changed the password. It happens all the time. If it's the first, correct it. With the hotmail, it is posssible if you desire to simply leave your account and create a new one. An account which is inactive for 30 days (I think it is) will be closed. I would reccomed this if you cant find a way to properly close your account. |
