How can I change my hotmail address?

I need to tell you my Hotmail problem. No-one can email me. It just doesn't work. I've emailed myself from another address and it didn't get through. I have no idea what's wrong and it's been going on for months. I'd like to delete my Hotmail address and start a new one - please tell me how to do this.

 Hi Robyn. We haven't used your last name because it's a bit too easy to work out your Hotmail address from it.
Hotmail accounts are maintained on another server, and the settings don't have anything to do with your computer's settings. You should be able to log on from any Internet-connected PC. The Hotmail people should be able to tell you if there's some particular problem with your account.
As for getting a new one -- it's as easy as going to the Hotmail site and registering a new account. But since you've already got a personalised account, I'd suggest you also get that one working again.
Oh, and remember that a common reason for not being able to use your email account is that you've forgotten what it is, and you're trying to log in to a nonexistent account. For instance, if you email is lovelylips@hotmail.com and you tell people that it's lovelylips@hotmail.com.au (note the extra .au) then you'll never get it. Ditto for lovely_lips@hotmail.com and any other misspelling. Paul Zucker

(If I wanted to do that I'd just get the new address and stop using the old one. (Hi Shama. As far as I know there's no way to change your Hotmail address as that IS your identity with Hotmail. Another idea with Robyn's problem has popped into my head. Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express as an email client for your hotmail account?? As suggested earlier your account could be full and when using a PC based client rather than an web browser you might not be aware of the size of your account.

Be aware that Google e-mail is accessed for advertising purposes & thus is ad supported via a profile being built up via the accessing of the messages. Admittly, the accessing of the messages is probably done by a robot progam but there goes another piece of our privacy. With the hotmail, it is posssible if you desire to simply leave your account and create a new one. An account which is inactive for 30 days (I think it is) will be closed.
