My game stopped running

My game 'The Sims 2 deluxe edition' worked for the first couple of weeks.

Then one day it stopped working after the preview. A sign popped up saying

    "The application has crashed. the application will now terminate."

Why in the world did this happen?

There are a few possibilities, including.



  1. There's something wrong with your PC (hardware)
  2. There's something wrong with your PC (operating system)
  3. You've fiddled with the PC's settings or software.
  4. Your PC is infected with malware.
  5. Your Sims CD is dirty or scratched or damaged in some other way.
  6. The installation of the game is corrupt and it needs to be reinstalled.

7. And what new hardware or software have you added (after) the game was installed and stopped working?.
If so try and trace back to that point and also check if there are any game patches to fix this problem.
