How to use PCSX2 the Playstation 2 Emulator

Now im going to put some guide on how to configure PCSX2 to try out the PS2 Emulator. And since few people are asking is their system can play ps2, then the answer is no. You can■t actually play ps2 games on your pc right now (dunno for a real high end system which is using Dual Core Processor, SLI Graphics Card, etc, but to most users just wait for it), but if you want to help the PCSX2 team, you can do it by testing out PCSX2 and reporting any bugs you found to them.

First you must have PS2 Bios in order to try out the PCSX2 (you can find it easily on the internet
) ;) and dont forget to put it into Bios
Directory in your PCSX2 Directory

and the next step would be running the PCSX2 Executable and configure it like this (maybe different depending on your computer configuration, especially to those who are using SSE2 Enabled Processor, such as Pentium 4, Athlon64, etc)4. CDVD Plugin Configuration

Note: if you don■t have ASPI installed on your system use Win2k/XP IOCTL SCSI Command and set it into your DVD Rom Drive (if you■re not using ISO Image). The next step would be putting your PS2 Games on your DVD ROM and choose to Run CD from File Menu ■ and pray hope it■ll work :P and in my case i was running Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi PAL VersionNote: If you got an error message saying error opening gs plugin or something like that, most likely you■re trying to use ZeroGS Plugin and your vga card is not a Pixel Shader 2.0 Capable Card (ZeroGS require Pixel Shader 2.0 ++ Capable Card) .. and the only solution is using GSDX Plugin as the graphic plugin or get a new

most emulators are legal to use but if you use games that you do not own then that is illegal. Emulators will often have legal warnings with them to say as much. One of the most popular emulators is MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) and if you open a ROM file with it you will have a screen saying it is illegal to use this emulator to play games you do not own.

dude... all ps2 emulators are MASSIVE failures... they can either play crappy games or break ur dvd rom... dont waste time or money on a new dvd rom on them. EMULATORS SUCK!!!!!!

also... the post below mine is a big lie... he cannot play ps2 on his pc and there is no way in hell he can play xbox 360. so there is NO way to properly play it YET. i don't know why people keep on asking the same question when it has been answered...

but you need a modchip or a swapmagic disc to play burnt games on a ps2 (unless you press them yourself... if anyone knows where i can get access to a cd/dvd press then please let me know :D)

also there are some games that are on dual layer dvds (DVD9). Most ps2s (even with modchips) cannot play the burnt dvd9s (because of the difference in the format between pressed dvd9s and burnt ones). so in order to get it to work, you need you use the Toxic patcher... if you want to find it, just type toxic patcher ps2 or something into google.

the only ps2 games that i know of that are on dvd9s are:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (can't copy at all so don't bother with it)

Xenosaga (never released in PAL but if you manage to get it, you need to have a DVD+/-R DL for it)

God of War (works fine)

Champions of norrath (don't know for sure but i have heard that no one can get it to work)

Gran Tourismo 4 (this is one hell of a game, and guess what... it works perfectly when patched)

NOTE: if you have a DMS4 modchip, then you don't need to use the patcher because it is built into the chip.

and about CVGS... get ePSXe, it is the best psx emulator around but it can be a bit tricky to configure and you need a bios which is illegal to have unless you own your own PSX.

The only console gamediscs that I think could actually screw up your PC are the Xbox and the Gamecube ones because they use a completely different file system and the PC doesn't even detect anything.
