I tried it and wasted my time there for 18 months.
The I went back to Ebay where, despite the fees and Paypal, at least I get regular sales.

The guys name who made it is Robert P**** of Port Stephens. He opened the site when he got banned from Oztion for his slander and lies. He likes to call himself Bear. He also got booted from eBay under the name of BobbyBigBear.

Over it in a month. Traded for nine years on eBay without incident. 100% feedback and 783 feedback count. I think the rejects from eBay who rely purely on the free automatic relists are hanging around like hawkers. Had a buyer state the item was not received, having paid for regular postage. Quoted semantics and ended up giving him replacement item. My first negative in 9 years from a guy with 4 negs and 3 neutrals for misrepresenting items and not sending items or issuing refunds. Instead of taking a hit at $0.99 for an item. Defraud and ignore. Last Oztion items for me end tomorrow. I would rather pay a fee and attract a higher class of customer.

What a crap site run by a no all no nothing K1W1 and what's new about that,they have a policy of 1 item listed per category with limited categories but this rule only applies to members who they wish to descripmate or victimise while allowing certian sellers to list 3 items per category and wheen reported do nothing about there listings,with the excuse they have not been reported by other members,this policy they say is inforced by the members so if you upset the click or Oztion they will drive you out by reporting or removing your listings for no reason as they have removed items that are not the same or listed as the same as listed more then once or if you start to make money or rock the boat or if some members don't like what you sell as they sell the same items,as oztion will remove your listing without checking anything they will just remove the listing,Oztion use this listing policy to victimise & discriminate against certian members like me and others with 1560 feedback all postive While buyers are being riped of for there goods or money at an alaming rate, mean while they allow shil biding and fakes to Flourish on the site, thats if you get the goods, while the customers get riped of for there goods and money or both and do nothing about it every second post in there forums is about someone being riped of but oztion do nothing about it they even remove the negative feedbacks against these sellers i guess theses sellers are what oztion want the will not even suspend a seller with 60 negatives they just don't give a dam, oztion if you wish to be riped off victimised or discriminated against then oztion is the place for you what a joke there site is

OZTION.. easy to navigate.. easy to see.. at first I did not think too much of it..I joined ages ago.. but being an avid ebayer for 5 yrs.. I had, had enough.. way too expensive for the small joe bloe.. and although I have not sold anything so far.. this past week I have noticed my clicks are increasing.. or is that me checking it all the time.. LOL!! but. I am spreading the word.. you do it too please.. send an email with a link to every single person in your address book.. I did that.. and not one person had heard about it..

Oztion is the pits!! Full of junk and members are older than granny and full of bible bashers too. Admin is up the shit and there is absolutely no buyer protection either. A lot of the members there have no idea how to run a business, if you choose to have paypal, the old codgers start jumping down your throat!

The staff of oztion admin, specifically she who has a name that rhymes with "Melon"... let the website down immensely.

They have absolutely no customer service, or problem solving skills what so ever. Time and time again i have seen "Melon" drop the ball on issues that could have been easily resolved.

Oztion never inform their users of major changes, they simply make the change and watch the riots break out in the forums.

They need to hire someone with the sensibility and skill to deal with the public.

Their entire business plan is riding on the backs of their loyal mum and dad supporters. Admin expect their users to do all the advertising for them, making no real effort themselves.

In the years that i have been a member of oztion, i have noticed no peak in sales. It has flat lined and will continue to stay the same until someone makes some drastic changes.

The first change needs to be a change of staff !!

Oztion is great. No listing fees, list as many items as you like even with a free gallery picture. Can't get that on Ebay. I used to have an Ebay store, fees were way too high. Oztion, I have over 1000 items listed and it doesn't cost a cent. Ebay would be over $100.00 just in listing fees. Come on Aussies, give it a go. It is different to Ebay, not as good in some ways but better in others. The old saying is true, we don't like change. But move ahead and give change a go.

It's not.
I've been a member for three years, in fact didn't even need to have credit card to join back then. I've also been a member of ebay for about 9 years, been selling and buying on both. when I first joined oztion it was definatley a buyer's market, not enough members to outbid you so got some great bargains. now, moving a little quicker, but still has only just reached 300,000 members. have had stores in both. have been ripped off as a buyer on both. Here's the difference...
EBay... refund money, seller suspended.
Oztion... won't even discuss it.
And who are the mysterious 'admin' that has a blacklist, and automatically deletes queries from members they don't like? Why dob't they like them? Because they dared ask a question. Great idea for the $5m plus buyout so it can be marketed better, but more and more members are going back to ebay even though it costs alot more, and is not very easy to negotiate a problem either. At least you can though. the problem with oztion is that there is too much ignorance from the little peeny admin twits. admin means administration.. it does not mean Power to say and do as you like and hide behide a computer. You can't ring oztion, they have no phone number. There is no process to protect buyer or seller in any situation unless item not received. read them properly. oztion take your money. that's it. Go and read the message boards in oztion. the members get treated like shit, and we are talking members with great feedback who have been members for a long time. Yep.. bring on the marketing boys! the little empire that was built held so much hope for us peasants that we could have an alternative to ebay. Oztion is WORSE than ebay, thinly veiled behind promises of warm greetings and lashings of help and loveliness which do not exist. If they don't get rid of the staff with attitude and hire some professional customer service team members all the marketihg in the world won't help. In fact, I'm looking forward to sitting back and waiting until the marketing put oztion really into the limelight, so the current affairs shows can start one story after another on the examples of dodgy unethical behaviour presented by ADMIN. It is clear Admin is on the take with some of the sellers, and has only taken 'positive' action on several occasions only after the threat of being sued by more than one member. they seem to delight in pissing people off. I'm off to try some of the other sites mentioned here. I've no doubt the same problems will exist across the board, they are part of the territory. However humiliating, demeaning, and basicallly wiping your feet on people is not. The embarrassing thing is that is uniquely tied to australia via the name. ebay is not location based from the same. Oztion is creating a bloody lousy Ozzie perception.

ebay now has competitors and Oztion has some followers and so do the new sites. I am registered on ebay, Oztion, Trading Post and Smart Bid Auctions - it costs absolutely nothing to register as a buyer on each of the sites and each will provide a different service as ebay really have excessive fees and poor customer service. So Register on each of the new sites and find the one (or two) that suit your needs. I think you will be pleasantly suprised at what each site offers when you compare it to ebay.

Another eBay alternative - RazorBid - Online Auctions for Australians?

I came across yet another website www.razorbid.com.au

It's another online auction just started up, seems to work ok, not many items etc.

I'd love to move away from eBay but eBay has alot of good easy to use features so moving off to another site means really downgrading a bit to "less features".

But I'm a seller, this new site RazorBid seems ok, it's cheaper then both eBay and Oztion but I guess thats to be expected considering the amount of users etc they have on there.

Still...... Free to List, low final value fee.... has a bulk lister, nice member panel.

Is it that you don't like to be proved wrong by Oztion and sellers or buyers that are actually happy on the site or are you just trying to taint another persons joy by trying to play supersleuth with comments about how a certain poster "has made several comments under different names" but you can tell because of "Typo's".

I reiterate my earlier statement, in that "over-ride" in this case basically means that 'new' feedback 'over-rides' older feedback. Imagine if you were a seller and had a negative rating right up there on top. It sure makes it look better if that negative feedback is placed further down the column, with positive feedback on top of it. Does that explain things a bit better?

The said member joined before those dates, in fact it was July 2006. As stated, I can't remember the exact milestone. It may have been a contest of some sort, but I clearly remember that seller won the prize.

I prefer to remain using "private" as my name. It is better than making-up a name in any event.

Using the term "over-riding" feedback means that negative feedback left by a genuine member on the 16th June, would be "over-rided" by positive feedback left by a member acting on behalf of oztion on 17th June.

This member acting on behalf of oztion even won a prize for joining as a member, (100,000 member to join, or something like that as I can't recall the exact milestone). This member's 'about-me' page even states that sometimes they buy items, only to change their mind later when they decide to sell the items bought. Has this statement been made to dismiss any suspicion? All this pretence to retain unhappy and dishonest sellers from leaving the site.

OZtion currently have over 700,000 listings because they have no listing fee. If there was even a tiny listing fee, like 1c per month, the number of listings would be dramatically reduced.

To this member- YES - the OZtion positive comments ARE real :-)

Unlike ebay - you don't have to join to "browse" ( another way ebay inflates their membership ) Try going to ebay without logging in and see if you can look at ONE ITEM - any ! You cannot - it wont let you. I know someone who has joined ebay 6 times - each time she moves she gets a new system / new bigpond or new optus address and she forgets her old one ( as she's NEVER bought from ebay ) but she likes to "browse" and each time she joins & each time their "membership" goes up
If I told you the things that happened to me on ebay & the things that happened to my friend who paid them $3,000 per MONTH in fees - ( long story short ) He paid by Credit Card & Ebays system wasn't working right- they froze his account for 2 months - he FAXED his bank statements., spent days on the phone ( and he wasn't a power seller BUT paid $3,000 per month in fees ! So, he was paying ebay all this money but not making that money !) Their "standard investigation" lasts so long and even though he had the proof they wouldn't release his account from being on hold !
Seller sells an item advertised on TV - on the radio- Big Dept stores & buys BULK lots on ebay. Tries to resell one by one on ebay & their Vero program stops her - WHY ? Because they had IP rights in the USA ( but NOT Australia ) and even though the selelr & items were "Aust Only" she couldn't sell them there ! ( but she bought them there ??? thousands of $$$ worth ) The NIGHTMARE stories I could tell you & what's the worse you hear about OZtion- It's slower to sell an item, But FREE
I have seen some of the replies below that are anti OZtion & most I recognise from the forums- they bought from a seller who was a dropshipper & THAT seller got stung by the supplier- The Feds were involved and the woman went bankrupt & why did this happen - They wanted something for nothing!
An item that costs $1,000 in the shops you cannot get online for $200 & if you do, then IMO - you get what you pay for ( most of the time it's junk )
Stick to sellers who HAVE the items on OZtion and USE the tools available there to pick good sellers & dropshippers should stick to ebay

At least at OZtion - you can BROWSE without having to join & the memberships REAL people - The staff are real & they don't leave every month

There's forums for computers / IT - Ones for Pets - Ones for Cameras - OBVIOUSLY if you intend to visit the same types of forums you will get the "silly Teenager Types" as you are visiting THEIR domain. If you wish intelligent discussion then find a forum that suits you
Regarding " that's all I have to do " WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR NOTHING ???? It's is ZERO to list

Always - I have found the biggest whingers are the ones who sit back & "wait" for buyers to come to them- OZtion is NOT Ebay and you have to WORK on OZtion to get the sales but it does happen IF you WORK !
You cannot expect the site to give you the same sales as Ebay - When ebay employs numerous staff JUST to monitor the forums ( as they have no real forum "type " so n one knows where to go & everyone hides behind a false ID being nasty )
If a member on OZtion does the work their items sell- I sat back for a month when I started & said to myself I wont survive if I do this - I had discovered that on Ebay - after fees, after Paypal - after every other little thing like item costs - I made exactly $50 for the entire MONTH
IMO - You need to sit down - work out how much you really make on Ebay - after ALL fees ( including item costs & postage ) do not include petrol of anything like that- just the basic fees of ebay - paypal - items costs - Aust Post & then find out what you made for the month
If you work 1 day or 7 days a week & every week of the month - work out what your hourly rate is ( I didn't bother @ $50 a month ) I REFUSE to be a dropshipper & Most OZtion members wont buy from them as the one who got caught last time ( Buyers paid her - she paid the supplier - who took the money & disappeared after successfully selling for months with them & she filed bankruptcy )

Some Buyers had the " Buyers Protection " available but refused to use it ( extra costs involved- registered mail is a must & must be via Paypal or Paymate ) Her account was p;laced on HOLD with the first 2 complaints - so no more members could get stung - I believe this is what the member below is stating - as I recognise his words from a forum post- he bought a small item from her ( $50 I think )
As far as I am concerned - dropshippers shouldn't be allowed to sell online ( but they are ) and on OZtion they are suppose to state it in the postage description ( that item's coming via a 3rd party) Again - Unlike ebay anyone can sell any item if they have it or not.

Contact their so called "support" over there & you get a "standard" email reply giving you links to the help section - but NEVER an answer to the actual question you DID ask - I sent them one not long ago pointing out the spam / phish email I got was very good & maybe they should look into this one as it has ebay dot com in the actual address & I got a reply telling mw "how to tell if email if from ebay - standard email - I ALREADY KNEW it was NOT from them & was trying to stop Aussies getting ripped off ( did they care or even care to read it ! No ) Day 3 of having a shop there the spam mail started ( which I had NEVER had before ) it still happens to this day- non stop emails with " Enlarge this- whiten teeth - the govt has your money " and other emails- approx 30 a day I get & ALL have an "unsubscribe" link - Yeah - right , I will do that from a library computer ( when I have time one day) Spam emails as a direct result from OZtion = ZERO ( I have different email addresses so I DO know )
IMO - If you are a dropshipper or you expect and want something for nothing then stay at Ebay - If you have your own items & are willing to work and willing to be patient ( and work out how much money you are SAVING not being on ebay ) then come to OZtion
There's very few - if any - " Bidding wars" so items are listed at the price the member wants for that item -
There's so many different ways that OZtion & Ebay are different but members come over from ebay EXPECTING & DEMANDING it to be the same - while NOT paying a CENT for the service
One member ( and I am sure he is one of the below ones complaining - I noted the wording he uses ) Was non stop complaints- he'd been there 1 week and paid exactly 50 cents in fees and wanted to know when they have this system & when that system & why aren't they doing this like ebay & why aren';t they doing that ( as ebay does it )
IMO - If ebay does it then it's a good reason NOT to do it !
While I was a member at ebay, they put the fees up one THOUSAND Percent - 1,000%
All these greedy members wanting this system & wanting that system - NOTHING was enough & everytime they introduced a new system ( it costs money) and the fees would go up
The final time I listed on a full time basis was in 200 and I have been at OZtion ever since
I do not make a "living" off it - I never did on ebay either & in the end on ebay I was loosing money But everything I list is mine - everything I list I know the items condition ( not some photo & description given to me ) and everything I have I stand by with a "refund" policy
As far as I am concerned - to me - ebay is dead. They do NOT want an auction site they want a "amazon" type site and will get it
They list items like cars for a crazy low price yet charge a selelr of 2nd hand books fees they cannot possibly sustain
They make no attempt to have Vin or Chassis numbers or anything to 100% be sure the car is real !
They don't care about anything BUT money - They allow non stop power sellers to sell $1 items with $95 postage and escape fees
I was fed up to the back teeth with emailing them about over priced postage & rip offs that they didn't care about & did nothing
OZtion is an AUSSIE site- owned by Aussies & is run by some good decent people - You KNOW their names when you are a member & you get the SAME person replying to the emails ach time
that has never happened to me on ebay & I wont ever go back to that place - They can keep their non stop fees & theirlittle systems that only 1% of the members use but every member PAYS for & the fact they keep getting sued for stolen or fake cars & lost money and their insurance tripled - but the MEMBERS pay for that ( and NOT the car sellers either )

At OZtion it's ALL free but you must WORK for the buyers to come to you & if you intend to list & sit back - it wont happen

I have been selling on both Oztion and Ebay for a number of years and I have more sales and a larger customer base on Oztion than Ebay.
I think you should give Oztion another look.

(I find that impossible to believe Kerrie. Given all things being equal eBay would surely give you more sales. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use Oztion, just that I can't believe your assertion. By the way, I notice that whoever you are you've sent in a few posts under different names lately. How can I tell? Like me you have characteristic typos you make when you type certain things. I won't tell you what yours are - work it out yourself. -PZ)

They have 5 different IDs and then have a "posting" ID to hide behind in the forms -

I know for a fact oztion is engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct and the regulators are currently investigating their actions.

Oztion has one known seller/buyer member who acts solely in the interest of oztion to 'retain' selling members (even if dishonest) to the site. This activity was conducted profusely in the period leading up to Jumbuck purchasing the site, to make it look a more attractive business to buy.

By engaging in the above conduct, a number of oztion buying members have been scammed out of their money. Those members relied on a manipulative rating system.

The said member acting on behalf of Oztion posted favourable feedback following purchases made to 'over-ride' other members' very damaging (but true) negative feedback.

(They're serious allegations. Since we don't have your name cmn we give them any credibility? -PZ)

I thought I'd hace a second go. I don't understand Steves comments ( below) as he stated he paid via Direct deposit but then says he paid with acredit card- This isn't an option !
The ONLY ones ( that I have seen ) who have been scammed on OZtion are people trying to get something for nothing ( a $1,000 item for $200 ) or by dropshippers ( where the seller paid the dropshipper & they disappeared on her )
If the seller doesn't have the proper verification & proper Buyer Protection then DON'T buy from them !
Check out the site - have a look at the shops & note the types of verifications around - 5 all together ( and I have all 5 ) Then check how many items sold & compare this to their feedback.
Then buy using the Rec. Methods to have the buyer protection - OZtion is an Aussie site & most members who have been there & left have either been thrown out or they have bought or sold to the wrong people.
Ebay put it's fees up 1,000% while I was there & got greedier even year - 2 years ago I said no more & have not looked back

Ebay put their fees up 1,000% while I was there & I left 2 years ago & have not looked back - I love OZtion- I do not believe we have had any big problems on our site EXCEPT for Dropshippers. It is the dropshippers who are causing these problems ( IMO ) and Overseas Sellers.
OZtion has a buyer protection - members CLEARLY state the buyer protecton limit ( you wouldn't buy a $4,000 item from someone who had $50 limit ! ) OZtion also has the number of items sold & you can compare to the feedback ( you wouldn't buy from a member who had 100% feedback score of 250 yet they'd sold 3,000 items !) A BUYER can LOOK & see what type of protection value they have from the selelrs slling record AND see how many TYPES of verification a seller has ( up to 5 different types including the Aust Post Passport type verification)
OZtion is SAFER for both BUYER and Seller n My Opinion

Was sad to hear accc has put a stay on ebay's plans to offer paypal as the only payment option.

In my opinion, any person who buys off the internet today is crazy unless they pay by paypal as it does offer buyer protection. There are so many scam artists, out to get a quick buck on the internet. Ebay is doing this to preserve their membership numbers as they were losing too many buying members who got burnt.

I applaude ebay for this. Oztion is way, way behind the times in this regard. Oztion has been out to get a quick buck (at any cost) for themselves from day one. Oztion has done nothing but use its members.

I intend to find out as Ebay promised to assist me with compensation for a fraudulent sale but all they did was run me around in circles for six months then told me that the claim was knocked back as the Ebay rules changed on the sixth of June. They had all the paperwork sent four weeks earlier by registered air mail but they claimed it arrived late. Paperwork was also sent last November but they claim it never arrived.

The other factor is their stand over attitude enforcing Paypal plus their new system of hiding bidders` identity makes the Ebay scene rather suspect to be rigged for fraudulent operators.

Daniel, just wondering how you figure Oztion is misrepresenting their membership numbers? Is it because some people have more than 1 id?

If so, I'd take a good hard look at eBay. eBay don't remove "closed" members for at least 4 years, so there's at least 4 years worth of non-existent members out there in the figures.

Anyway, I reckon it's the items listed figures that are the most important anyway. Oztion currently has over 700,000 listed and bear in mind that there's no overseas sellers allowed.

As to there being less junk for sale on eBay than Oztion...look again. How much garbage do I have to wade through on eBay compared to Oztion.

I've stopped selling & buying on eBay for a number of reasons, including the greedy new policies and the arrogant attitude.

Oztion's Australian and that's where I want my money to go....not Hong Kong or China.

I like to follow Australian companies if their ethics are good.

To start with, Oztion misrepresents its membership numbers to make it look bigger than it actually is. In my view, this is dishonest and represents a willingness of that company to act in an untoward manner.

I've used ebay and oztion and ebay definitlely kicks their ass by a long way.
Apart from ebay I've been selling at AuctionBidz.com.au with a little success but at least it doesn't cost me anything.

I think OZtion is better than eBay..

I love OZtion.
I joined up a couple of weeks ago and made my 1st sale in a few days.
You just have to make sure you are listing your items for a good price. I used eBays completed items search to give me an idea of what price i should list it for.
It seems that the sellers outweigh the buyers at OZtion at the moment though.
I don't think OZtion employers are polluting this page, I think it's just hard for some people to believe that there really is another decent alternative out there!

They're too similar. All saying roughly the same thing. read them through - look how similar the phrasing and choice of language is.

I CALL "WORK". This looks like an Oztion marketing exercise.

I'm actively keeping a close eye on alternative Auction sites though - there's a mass anti-EBAY sentiment out there.

I've been with Oztion a couple of weeks. Listed two items, one sold immediately, the other is in it's second listing. I have bought five items and was happy with them all. Each seller has been ex-ebay. All my sellers I've chatted with, all acknowledge Oztion is slow, but it can only improve with more time and more members.

Shame there is no advertising, it could be so much better. But, it's still only new, so I will be giving it a chance.

I have finished with ebay after 400+ transactions, no negs, no neutrals, but feel ebay doesn't want my business, by forcing Paypal on us (which I wouldn't touch with a barge-pole - past experience.) I'm also keen to be with an Australian company and can see absolutely no reason it can't be as good or better than ebay in Australia, given a chance.

I got ripped off over $200.00 on oztion by an ex-ebay seller who left ebay when ebay made it compulsory to offer paypal as the only payment option.

On Oztion, this seller only offered direct debit as a payment option, so under normal circumstances I wouldn't have a chance to dispute this transaction to get my money back. But, I paid via my credit card account over the internet so I can instigate a chargeback with my bank/credit card account fortunately.

When I contacted my bank, its credit card dept advised me that I should stick to well known online auction sites such as ebay as it was too risky purchasing with the others. They named oztion as one of those others, so who knows how many charge back applications the bank receives following disputed oztion transactions.

I am one who likes the idea of ebay only allowing paypal as a payment option now as it offers buyers some protection. Sellers who complain and don't like to offer paypal are rogue sellers in my opinion.

(Thanks Steve. I don't like the idea of eBay trying to restrict us but I'm prepared to give this new PayPal requirement a fair go. If it does protect the buyer and seller then it's probably worth a little bit extra. -PZ)

I think that Oztion has a potential to develop and take some of EBAY'S market share because the charges on EBAY (the listing charge in particular) do tend to put sellers off.
I agree that ebay still does have more buyers than Oxtion but the number of active buyers on Oztion seems to be growing quite rapidly

Not very good. Full of 2nd hand rubbish charged at double the price you'd pay at a garage sale. Outdated computer software, the clothes are all daggy, the people in forums will gang up on you if you say something about oztion that they disagree with. Not a good site. I lost $500 on there and admin wanted me to work things out through oztion just because they want their cut in fees. They probably could have done more, very greedy of them, and unprofessional. Ebay is much better, I had a problem, they cancelled the sale ASAP as Oztion admin knew about my problems WELL BEFORE I paid, yet they insisted I pay.. Only so they can charge FEES greedy pr*cks they are. Stay WELL AWAY. If you like buying rubbish then the site is a great place for you.

NOT GOOD! I used to use this site, NEVER again, I got ripped off blind by a seller I LOST a LOT of money Oztion management did NOTHING about it (seller had all verification), admin couldn't care less, they wanted the FEES.. Ebay greedy? Oztion do nothing at all when you lose out, ebay DOES. Ebay is MUCH better. All I see on OZtion is a lot of 2nd hand stuff you'd pick up cheap at a garage sale, except the sellers selling rubbish are charging double what you'd pay at a garage sale. Stay at ebay, better competition and not loaded full of junk rubbish you could get for HALF price at a garage sale. Stay with ebay, oztion is great if you like to buy other peoples junk.

I've been selling on eBay for five years and on OZtion for three years. I have three times the listings on OZtion compared to eBay but I sell twenty times more on eBay than OZtion. Even with the big difference in fees, I make a profit on eBay, compared to a loss on OZtion.

OZtion's front page claims 272,000 members but they are really just accounts, not active members. Most members are disgruntled eBay or ex-eBay sellers, with very few buyers. Many members have multiple accounts, and I suspect that a lot of accounts have been dormant for a long time, people who logged on to look around but didn't come back, or ex-eBay sellers who went back. Every time there's a change at eBay, there's a big increase in activity in the OZtion forums. Lots of new sellers from eBay. Then in the following months, the forum messages turn to "I'd like to stay here but I can't afford it, not getting the sales, going back to eBay".

OZtion's front page also claims over 600,000 items. But, because of the free listing, sellers list and relist anything including stuff that doesn't sell and should have been chucked out. Also because of the free listing, many sellers list the same item multiple times. A few sellers flood the listings with identical items. OZtion have a policy of a maximum of three identical listings but they don't enforce it.

Another drawback from the free listing, some sellers sell items way below their real value. For example, a clothing item that retails for say $50, on eBay a real bargin at $10, on OZtion a giveaway at $1. Even below Op Shop pricing. This drags whole categories down. All the sellers have to sell way below real value or they leave. Good for one or two buyers but not good for sellers generally and not good for the site.

OZtion need to do something to improve the listings and to attract buyers. I think that the easiest way to improve OZtion would be to introduce a small listing fee to improve the overall quality of listings, with a similarly small reduction in sale fee. An improvement in the quality of listings will attract the buyers.

There are a lot of very nice people on OZtion and quite a few quality listings. There are many things that I like about OZtion. I would really like to see an Australian site succeed but it's not happening. All the talk in the forums about OZtion being the end of eBay is just fanciful.

I don't like many of the changes at eBay over the last couple of years but I have to sell where the buyers are.

Very good!!! I sell 500% more there than I ever have on ebay. They have a real admin not some 'I don't care' computer generated reply. People are friendly and I don't feel as though I am going to get ripped off in a transaction like I do on ebay - which by the way is the only place I have been ripped off! The negative reply that I have read below are all from ebayers trying to run OZtion down - they come in all puffed up with their own importance and expect to sell big time straight away - tell everyone how to run things and then leave and bag the place - very un Australian!!

I joined Oztion in July 2006. I was also selling on EBay since the early days here in Australia.
Whilst I did very well on EBay in the beginning, it was getting harder to sell as the market was being flooded by Asian sellers listing for a few cents but charging ridiculous postage.
I am extremely happy with sales on OZtion, have had a few non payers but that is part of the auction scene. Other than my time I really didn't really lose anything and the items usually resold quickly anyhow.
As sellers now have to be from Australia or NZ, it does limit the choice slightly as you don't have the whole world to choose from. Overseas buyers though can purchase from OZtion.
Australia is slowly being bought out by overseas companies so why not give an Aussie company a chance to do good.
There are no selling fees and the final value fees when your item sells is very low. As for disgruntled buyers, sure a few have been stung, there are di- honest people everywhere, but the percentages are fairly low compared to the satisfied buyers.
Many times you can buy a faulty item from shop and not get satisfaction.
Give Oztion a go, it doesn't cost anything to look.

Not very. I bought a ring & on arrival noticed it had a damaged stone. Returned it for refund. Seller relisted it without mentioning the damage. Somebody else bought it, so I sent her an email, advising her to check the stone. She returned the ring & seller relisted it. I sent Admin an email to inform them & all they did was get him to add that the stone was damaged in his listing. It already had bids & the note RE damage was in tiny, tiny print, especially compared to the huge typed listing & I think it's wrong that shonky sellers are allowed to operate like that. Oztion Admin were content that he'd added the note, but I don't think that was a good solution.
I asked a seller a question RE freight charges on an item I was very interested in. Couldn't get an exact figure for freight, so gave up thinking about it, especially when seller then informed me that the item was black, & not red, as per his original listing. Red I like but not black, so that also put an end to my interest in his item.
eBay have lost my account as I won't sign up for PayPal, so I can only hope that if more ex eBayers move camp to Oztion, there should be more listings.

Been over there since xmas 2007 and its the best auction site there is. Everyone there is so friendly and eager to help in any way they can. yes things have been slow but they are picking up now. with anything new you have to give it a go. I keep all my prices very low as i'm not paying any listing fees.
if items don't sell i don't have to keep relisting like on feebay and paying to do so coz it is free and they are listed for longer.
as we get more members our sales are bound to increase.Then you will get a wider range of items listed. we on Oztion have very little overseas sellers so there is less chance of being ripped off.
coz we are mostly australian postage is almost at cost. any one chargeing higher rates are reported. Oztion admin are always there to answer any questions we may have. Members are very helpful to each other, we are like a big happy family.Like most big families there are the odd dissagreement. but you have to give us a chance. I do all my buying and selling on Oztion. If I can't find what I want I will ask it any one has it, then if someone does but it is not listed they will list and advise me. how good is that? wow I think it is fantastic. LONG LIVE OZTION>

I agree with Mark. Oztion is a desert. The only advertising it ever gets is when Ebay make a stupid decision and hourds sign up at Oztion thinking they can generate enough sales to make a difference. Oztion has NEVER advertised itself, instead it relies on you gullible members to promite it, and always on the coat tails of Ebay the horrible. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE. As Sellers on Oztion and Ebay we are customers of their site. As buyers we are the customers of the seller. NEITHER HAVE ANY RIGHTS. So there's absolutely no difference and Phillp Druce is anything but innovative. No wonder they've still only got a quarter of a million members, and that's only ever risen on the back of Ebay. WAKEY WAKEY, they're a desert with no leader and no idea of innovation. As for Feepay, well, I think they are successfully self destructing by the day. Doesn't mean Oztion is the best alternative as they appear to be dumb dumber and dumbest. Any insightful competitor would have found a few grand to start advertising in the last 3-4 years?. I am very disappointed with Oztion
To be fair I havent been on all that long, approx 2 months. But in total I have had 1 question!!!! and no sales.
I sell new toys are very fair prices and Im getting Jacksquat while on Ebay things are generally constantly moving. Even though listing on ebay IMHO is a rip off I really dont mind paying if things are moving out the door but there is really no point if things dont sell, no matter how cheap the site is.
I think Oztion would be great if we all lived to 1000 years old but sadly time passes us all by and no sales mean no money.

Support Australian Companies and support Australian sellers. Ebay do all their accounts from that little tax haven called Switzerland.

Hey Paul, another thing I forgot to mention, on OZtion, 90% of my sales are buy it now. I offer both auction and buy it now format on there as it is free to list anyway and have had more success there with BIN. I've sold 912 items in 1 year there.

The BIN sales don't show as bids so newcomers may see few bids and assume the worst but hang in there and list, list list. Everything you can find, list up. It works for me!

Been selling on OZtion for 2 years, and I am very happy there. It has been wonderful watching the site grow.

The admin staff are fantastic. They listen to the members and are open to criticism and suggestions. I have seen them implement a feature, receive significant negative feedback from members, and review the feature and remove it, all within a few hours. I've only seen this happen once, as the admin staff have learnt along the way and things are usually implemented much more smoothly these days. But my point is, that the admin staff are not afraid to change their decisions if the members can make a valid case.

The admin staff are real people. You get real messages that show clearly that they have read and understood your issue.

Yes, in the beginning, it did seem a little amatuerish, but they have had to go with the flow and adjust to huge influxes of members from time to time (pretty much every time ebay stuffs up). The site has not grown at a nice, steady rate. It has been running along nicely, then BAM, people start signing up in the thousands.

It is very exciting to be part of OZtion right now, as many new sellers are joining, bringing a whole new range of products with them, AND, also bringing their many many thousands of customers.

Now is the time that OZtion will really become a viable alternative to Ebay, for both buyers and sellers.

Oztion is growing and FAST, well over 250,000 members & more by the hour.
DIFFERENCES:
1) When I get an invoice from oztion, it is because I have had sales. When I get an invoce from eBay, its because I made a listing - not sales & I still get an invoice from the Bay.(I get extra charges for a sale & now extra charges if my buyer pays me/PP)
2) A person not a computer answers my question/s at oztion.
3) Three photos on listings - FREE, eBay charge for these.
4) Oztion pay me credits towards my fvf, never got paid a cent from ebay.
5) Oztion want my suggestions, there is a place to give suggestion details.
6) Oztion is computer friendly
7) Oztion is Australian & located in Australia - they employ Australians - they pay Australian Tax - they pay Australian Government Rates - they purchase from Australian companies (office supplies, electricity etc) therefore oztion aid in the Australian finances in a ripple effect. eBay support USA with a ripple effect.

Just one clarification needed .... they do not charge $10 to set up an account! The $10 you submit is to open your sellers account and is used to pay fees when your item sells. It is FREE to join and you only have to pay $10 to open your seller account if you want a seller account.

Feebay (or now Greedbay) has never been satifactory, there servers can be hacked and accounts hijacked, there is always a problem with some part of the site not working correctly (buggier the Billy's software), no support (you only get secret ph support if your selling over $2000 a week), no recourse from non-paying buyers, no recourse for sellers not sending goods, site supports money laundering, site allows O/seas buyers to pose as aussie seller with aussie bank accounts, allows drop shipping against its own terms and conditions, allows excessive postage fees, it was also responsible for crashing my computer (cost me two days to fix and lost a heap of info!) ...... and then there is PAYPAL, claiming to be a licensed financial institution when in fact it is not, this is why it can do as it pleases with your money as it is NOT subject to comply with the financial institutions laws ..... search YouTube, plenty of info there.

So far, so good. No complaints here. I have just purchased 2 items & the service has been great.

Some people judge too quickly & say bad things about Oztion. Buying 1 item or trying to sell something for 1 week - that's not enough experience for anyone to comment with bias. Everyone loves ebay - although that love is turning into dislike day by day since all the hoo haa with taking other payment methods away & enforcing paypal.

Each to their own though. I have heard & experienced more bad things on ebay than I have elsewhere. My trading days on ebay will soon end, but other doors have opened for me & I will be walking through them without looking back.

Yes they charge you to set up an account ($10) so what? I would rather pay that and no listing fees, then only have to pay small fees when a product sells. I have been selling on Ebay for a while and by the time you pay listing fees, final value fees and then if they pay through paypal,there is never much profit left. Now ebay are going to make all transactions go through paypal i think lots of people will jump on the OZTION wagon, i have!

Still think Oztion is no good??? I sell more there than on eBay and with the current changes at eBay, there's an exodus to Oztion. Check eBay forums and Oztion's membership, it's gone up 1158 members in less than 24 hours today.

I am revising my earlier post.It is still slow on Oztion but picking up noticeably.Ebay on the other hand is a slow as a wet week these days.I am also sick to death of having to wade through the hundreds of items from China that dominate most ebay sections.Oztion definately doesn't have that problem.I also think that Oztion should revise it's rule for overseas sellers and at least let sellers from NZ,UK and US in.More sellers means more buyers.

I have only put the one item up for sale (a $300 coin) so far and despite relisting it 3 times, I didn't get a bid. I put it up on eBay, got 15 bids and sold it in a week. That's the difference I think. Oztion is good in theory but they don't advertise so their buyer database continues to remain tiny. Also, they promote the eBay-owned PayPal service so I feel they are just trying to grow big enough to be bought out by eBay. A pity really because the end game could be so much better for them.

12 items,1 not received,1 paid $50 more through shill bidding(which is so easy now as bidder id is not shown)and bid retraction.6 items received with $1 or $2 stamps(paid $5+ for post)1 paid for registered

Oztion is with out a doubt the worst auction site i have come across.

Nothing sells and even worse than that is all the sellers who pollute the forums with "Why aren't my items selling" posts. It turns off potential members.

Furthermore the Admin of this site are sloppy, childish and seem to play favourites with their members. There is one member in particular who can be found dishing out her holier than thou advice daily in the forums. In six months time there will be no one left but her and her second hand baby clothes!

I have been perservering with Oztion about 6 months now and I have sales sporadically.I have bought more than I have sold and have not been ripped off yet and only unsatisfied 2 times.Having said that I have bought more on ebay and if I wan5t to sell something quickly and for a fair price I resort to ebay.I find a lot of the sellers from Ebay sell on Oztion and list there goods at 20-50% more,and I am talking about Buy-it-now prices.I also find the Oztion forums fluctuate from being extremely friendly to extremely nasty.I was once told to stick my head in an oven and remove myself from the gene pool for the benefit of future generations,but thats OK,I found it rather amusing.The main problem with Oztion is it comes off looking like an op shop for the most part and so people don't really hang around.I have made several sales to people that have only bought the one thing and then never buy again.It is as if they have searched,found my item,purchased and left.I will stick at it for a while longer,but as I am actually trying to make a living,I wont be staying if it doesn't pick up.

It still seems to be surviving .... without relying on obtaining 60% of it's income from relisting fees ...

I've been a happy member of OZtion for almost 2 years, and my dealings with other members and the admin staff have all been positive, so I can highly recommend OZtion.com.au from my own personal experience. The site is growing daily and OZtion are continually adding new features.

Admin Support : 10/10 - always received a quick and helpful reply.
Learning Curve on Use of Site : 9/10 - switching from other sites to learn a new one can feel daunting, but I found Oztion's website design easy to adapt to after a few days of playing around with all the features.
Member Interaction : 9/10 - I very rarely post on the forums and stick to business, and I've dealt with some great members since joining. There are plenty of helpful members in the forums and keep in mind that only a small proportion of members post in the forums.

eBay's changes since the big store fee hike of 2006 has seen the site experience a decline in expected growth, and items available compared to years previous, with more upcoming changes on the way.

Expand your horizons, diversify and look at other sites such as OZtion as things are changing.

Another good Australian owned and operated site for classifieds that has a simple fee structure and user friendly design is www.sellmystuff.com.au

As far as buying online goes, check your seller's feedback, ask questions if unsure on anything, and as the saying goes "if it looks too good to be true" it probably is. Read each auction site's help pages and familarise youself with how each site works before purchasing/selling.

Is any auction site perfect? No .... Would I Support Australian auction sites that are working hard and providing alternatives? Yes, all the way! :)

Well, I never liked the site from word go, they have improved over time, I never got a chance to buy or sell, they just didn't seem to have the auction feel.

I'm looking at some new sites anyway, as ebays recent fee hikes are a joke depiste the volume of trafic.

Head to www.emoom.com.au for a list of aussie auction sites... I want to keep my future money with an Australian bsuiness. One to look out for is igrab.com.au, help that grow and maybe Australia will have an ebay of it's own.

I have been a member at both OZtion and ebay. Both are anti consumers and sellers. Wouldn't trust either. Oztion are ameteurs and are run by people with little business skill and are supported by phoney forum junkies who act as their police. They will not clean out the crooks and scammers instead hounding out anyone who challenges their incompetence. Ebay are just as bad, however at least you can sell stuff at ebay and get a reasonable price, buyers are an endangered species at OZtion. I no longer sell at OZtion.

In one word oztion is CRAP.

I was a member of OZtion, my sales were good and I had a 100% feedback rating. I sold computer graphics like auction templates etc. I decided to open another vShop to sell my paintings. The night I did this my new ID was suspended and my original account was put on hold. I was accused of shill bidding even though 99% of my sales were buy it now. I was also accused of having one or more accounts that had been suspended with them. When I asked for proof and the names of these other accounts they asked me to send them a certified copy of my drivers licence.
Shill bidding is a criminal offence and one that I have never taken part in, nor would I. I asked them why they had not pressed charges and they would not answer that question either.
It seems to me they are the judge and jury. My side of the story was not allowed to be told or heard. I was told to finish up all sales ASAP so they could suspend my exsisting account. Yet my buyers could not go through the checkout system as OZtion had advised them I was not a worthy seller.
I will sign up to a new account with OZtion but I will continue to do my work. I will not allow them to stop me. They have ruined my business once and I will not allow it to happen again.

What a bunch of wingers. I have been selling there now for a bit over a year. By feebay standards I would be a powerseller. I no longer watse my time or money with feebay as I believe that if everyone suports it OZtion will be as big as NZ's trademe.
Yes there are scammers & losers in the forums but you will find more on ebay but for me I perfer to support an up & coming aussie company with helpful and personal staff.
Never will I list another item on ebay.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, there's nothing Australian about Oztion's user agreement. They are no more accountable to their members than Ebay. They have no physical address, no contact phone number registered anywhere, not even in the phone book and they are completely fascist when it comes to objective dispute resolution. Their standard reply is 'no further discussion will be entered into? It's a recipe for disaster for buyers and sellers alike.

E-commerce guidelines state that they 'should' have an objective internal or external dispute resolution in place, and should not discriminate against consumers in the absence of same. But they simply hide behind their one sided 'no liability taken' user agreement and completely circumvent any rights a consumer or business might have in the real world. Real Auction houses have to adhere to Trade Practices and Consumer rights, so why should online auctions be any different?

Just like most online companies, Oztion is capitalising on the fact that Govt regulation hasn't yet caught up with E-Commerce tricks and turns. However, Govt are aware of the circumvention of consumer rights via discriminative user agreements, so it's only a matter of time.

Oztion are just a 'mini me' of Ebay. However, when comparing sales and prices, it's better the devil you know than a lame inpersonator with low sales, dodgy sellers, postage rorting, feedback extortion, and open stalking of members by forum bullies.

I have been useing Oztion since I was 19 and it goves me the fairest way to buy and sell my collectables. I find the forums very fair and full of useful information on buyin and selling. There are millions of Australian members which is good for the economy as it prevemts the dollars goin overseas. Thank You.

Been at Oztion since early days, slow to start, but eventually started getting sales , and now more frequently. I think most of the "KNOCKERS" of the site, are just saying negatives for the sake of mouthing off and didn't try giving it a go.FREE PHOTO SHOTS,FREE LISTING AND SMALL SALES FEES,who would want to use anything else.

I have bought and sold on OZtion for nearly two years l was one of the first lot of people to join, lm still there l love it, l find a lot there l need at better prices. I find sellers fantastic and buyers great. In the whole time of selling there on one non payer sure had more than that on ebay. OZtion is growing and only gets better, its Australian and its much better on fees. Everyone has thier own choice and l chose OZtion over feebay anytime. I still buy from the other side if l need to but l prefer to ask in forums from an Aussie seller that supports a aussie auction site. Most of us are great friends and not just a customer like ebay.Many dont give it a go list a few things dont sell so leave, you have to earn peoples trust not just expect to be bought from in the first week of being there. If your prices are good they will sell. Anyway l love OZtion sure beats the other for me....

Oztion must be better than most say it is as they wouldn't be coming into the forums and being so rude to others so they leave or bid on sellers things with no intention of paying. Oztion is Aussie and it has stopped oversea sellers from selling with the exception of sellers there before September 2006.Sellers from other sites who cause the trouble should be ashamed of themselves for what they are doing to their fellow sellers, there should be enough for everyone and it is a sad day to see people behave in such a way. Give Oztion a chance and see for yourselves and not what others want you to believe, after all it is free to join.

What constitutes a member?The test would be a reasonable person's view, and that would be an individual member. If an oztion member has three accounts, that is not three individual members, yet they are all included in Oztion's membership numbers. MISLEADING CONDUCT!
