Electronic misnomer

Friday, 23 July, 2010

One of my pet hates is the term "electronic: when the manufacturer simply means "electric".

I just saw a salt / pepper grinder that was described as "electronic" but I'll bet it simply uses an electric motor to girding the contents.

You can't change things now Byron. That term is too entrenched to change anyone.

'I agree with you though.

I just saw an :electronic" heater which was simply a bar heater. It had no electronic component in it at all.

For the sake of readers who are now scratching their heads, "electric" refers to anything operated by electricity (usually mains or battery) whereas "electronic" refers to something that also uses solid state (or even valve) components as part of the process.

But as I said, it's a moot point nowadays.

I agree, I simply cannot find electric or electronic pepper to use in my "Electric Pepper Grinder"!
-Like the Shirts, 30% Off that arrived with only 1 sleeve. You never know just what you are purchasing these days.
