It's not cheating!
Monday, 28 April, 2008
There's a special offer on the new Microsoft Office for Australian Uni students.
You can buy a one year licence for $25, or an unlimited licence for $75.
Check out It's Not Cheating.
(I'm doing an external, post-graduate course in Antarctic Biology this year, so I'll be getting my copy.)

Dorothy Dix, Blackstump,
Sound like a good deal to me. Even cheaper than the usual academic version. Paul Zucker

It's definately the best price I have ever seen for the program - I have it and highly recommend it.

There are also disks available at Uni. campuses which will save you having to download the program - then you just unlock the disk through the website above.

(Thanks Ed. -PZ) AdrianPosted: 14/03/2007 re: It's not cheating! Amazing as it may be... You try and contact customer support. I think I made an error in my email address and yes did get the product to download but need my paid for serial number...you try and get a response from support. I have waited nearly 12 hours with only an online form as a customer service response (no phone number etc.) does get frustrating. "Cheap" does have its drawbacks. Microsoft Ultimate Limited Offer 2007
This program is subject to the following terms and conditions and all participants acknowledge and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions:
Program Description:
All eligible university students are entitled to make a purchase from the program site as described further below.
Only uni students are allowed to purchase, but it doesn't say anything about who can and can't use it. So I guess that means uni and non-uni people can USE it alike.
tingPosted: 07/03/2007 re: It's not cheating! Yes, the site is genuine. It's available for download only (after you pay by credit card). It's available for each university student, I've got a young miss here doing her first year, so I thought it be worthwhile to buy it and see the new version. I couldn't save the download to the harddrive thus I was forced to install straight from the net. The office installation took about 50 minutes as the server was pretty busy. The reaction was one of mixed impressions as Office is very different from past versions eg 2000 or 2003. The ribbon took about 20% of the available screen space and the menus are placed in different tabs. It will need getting used to. But for now, it's residing in conjunction with the previous version of office until the transition 'learning' period is over. Anyway, my thanks to the crew of PC User for letting me and readers know of this available opportunity. Not many students are even aware of this, and would be buying their software from the co-op. It's great for microsoft to make it available as the retail version or other editions are too expensive. tingPosted: 06/03/2007 re: It's not cheating! I looked at the site but wonder if it is secure. It doesn't have the padlock sign when you're in the page putting down your personal details and credit card number. Is this site for real? Anyone got scammed? It has a link to Microsoft's site but you know, anyone can hotlink it to another page. Just being cautious and asking if any readers have had experience ordering from here. Is this site spoofed?
(Anything is possible, but I have no reason to think this is a trick. -PZ) PaulPosted: 06/03/2007 re: It's not cheating! Can a friend buy it for you, you pay them, then you use it? Would that be legal?
(Well, it certainly isn't in the spirit of the offer is it. I haven't seen the conditions of use and I'm certainly not a solicitor. But you can bet Microsoft has already thought of this. -PZ) cumagutzaPosted: 05/03/2007 re: It's not cheating! Really? I am doing a course in Antarctic nymphette hottub basking. Maybe we should exchange notes?

(Yes, and NZ isn't based on ex-convicts as Australia is. -PZ :-)
