How can I get my stuff back?

Wednesday, 25 June, 2008

My Incredimail was disappear since virus caught and can...get data back.

Donald Thornton, , Australia

Let's see if I have this correct.

You have a PC and you use Incredimail as your email product. You believe that you've had a virus infection and now you find that you can't use Incredimail any more and you're worried that your old email may have been wiped.

This is what I'd do.

  1. Get a reputable antivirus product. You can buy these at any computer shop or mass merchant in Australia. Install and run it and make sure that the PC is clean. If necessary get someone to help you get the PC back into a working state.
  2. Check to see if Incredimail is now working. It may be as the problem may have been elsewhere in the PC.
  3. If it isn't working, go to the Incredimail web site and download the latest version and install it. There's an excellent chance that your email is all still there and will be available.
  4. If this doesn't,work go back to the Incredimail web site and look for help or lodge a support request. (You may have to purchase the paid version however.)
Good luck.

re: How can I get my stuff back?
Donald, what's wrong with your original E-mail (Outlook Express/Outlook)?
If you got 'virussed', and lost Incredimail, as a result, did you do a "System Restore"....to get your OS (operating system) going again?
And, lost Incredimail, in that process?
If so, it is vey possible.....that you 'back-dated' System Restore too far, effectively wiping out the installation of Incredimail.
This does include, unfortunately, all the Contact Addresses, of Incredimail, which you had collected.
However, there may be a slim chance that your old E-mail Service has retained those E-mail addresses, when your System 'defaulted'...back to the original.
What version of "Incredimail" was you using, anyway?
The 'paid-for' vesion,(Paul has correctly advised you on what to do there)or the 'free for personal use' version.....Incredimail Xe?
Which ever you had, don't be so lazy, sport, and do your own 're-installation' of......Incredimail.
That, truly, is the only way you will get Incredimail back working proerly.
And, get that Anti-Virus program onto your computer,as Paul has suggested, ASAP, too.
That's what caused your strife....in the first place. (It's a dumb move, using a computer with no Anti-Virus protection, these days.)

re: How can I get my stuff back?
Why people use Incredimail is beyond me. Yes it has lots of smileys and other animated things to add to your emails but the site is crawling with viruses, spyware and malware which, most likely, explains your problem. The other thing that amazes me is the complaceney of running a computer in this day and age. A friend of mine bought a notebook pc with XP Pro loaded. He was showing me some pics when i instantly saw a major problem. He hadn't activated Windows yet and was four days away from losing all of his files. Some people i know don't run any protection at all and don't see the reason why. I've given up trying to explain to people the importance of running a good security suite. I have enough problems with my blood pressure as it is (figuratively speaking). You CANNOT, repeat CANNOT expect to surf the net without any problems UNLESS you're running some form protection and no, i'm not talking about prophylactics either. The average person thinks that all software should be free. Guess what, it's not. Cheers guys, Andy. PS:-How's your blood pressure Paul?

(I take lots of pills to keep ot down thanks Andy. TRUE! -PZ)
