What's that high-pitched squeal from my monitor?
Saturday, 19 August, 2000
My monitor emits a high-pitched squeal. It usually occurs after the monitor has been on some time. It sounds like ringing in the ears, but I am sure that it's not my ears' fault because as soon as I turn the monitor off, it stops. The monitor is a Gateway EV700. Any suggestions before I call Gateway's tech support? Oh, I've also heard it on two other Mitshubishi Diamond monitors.

You have very good ears -- from memory, that squeal is 18 kHz and comes from the HT transformer core. You shouldn't hear it from a modern monitor with a solid transformer core, but maybe this is an el cheapo. Jan Wikström

HPosted: 03/06/2008 re: What's that high-pitched squeal from my monitor? somtimes flipping the moniter on its side, upsidedown, or what have you will fix this.. and some graphics properties will allow you to rotate the display so it doesnt look upside down etc...
