How do you record video onto a PC?

Sunday, 03 November, 2002

I have international Pay TV and I would like to record the TV shows from there to the PC, but if that is not possible than can I record the TV shows onto VHS and somehow record it onto PC and then burn it on CD as VCD. The problem is that I am not sure what I will need and how to do this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be any problem to do it the direct way. Depending on the quality you want you may find that a $100 PC TV card or an analogue video capture card will be fine.

Search HelpStation using terms like

record AND video

or

record AND TV

and see what you find. This subject has had a lot of coverage over the years.

The other thing you have to take into account is breach of copyright. While no-one is going to get upset at you for time-shifting (recording for later viewing) for your own use, you have to consider the legality of burning VCD's.
