Problem is that Hard Disk is getting detected in BIOS and not listed in My Computer.

What sort of disks are they? IDE (PATA) or SATA?
Did you make sure the original disk was set to Master and the new one to Slave?
Were there any instructions that came with the second disk? If not, check the manufacturer's web site for instructions on adding the disk as a second disk.
Does the disk need to be formatted so Windows will see it? Paul Zucker

Check the jumpers and set it to run as a slave if you havn`t done so already unless its a sata.
Also check what JC and Patrick have already mentioned.

Right Click 'My Computer > Manage then go into Disk management and if it says the disk is unpartitioned, right click it and partition as NTFS and follow the wizard. Then format it and you're done.
Hope It Helps. JCPosted: 17/10/2008 re: Why no 2nd hard disk? "I just connected a 160GB HD to the existing 80GB HD."
The 'above' line from Amarjeet...is suggestive that he simply installed his new 2nd H/drive....as "Master".
Without looking at the Jumper Setting of his new h/drive.
(This 2nd h/drive will be also set..as Master, straight from the factory!)
A big 'No-No'.
That his 'original' h/drive is IDE(PATA).A strong possibilty, here, just by 'what' he has written.)
Running a AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU-styled motherboard....is suggestive that his Motherboard may be/may be not a 'Hybrid'...IDE(PATA)& SATA.
(If it is, has he installed the RAID drivers, for it? If it is NOT, has he selected 'how' the BIOS does 'see' these h/drives....as EITHER 'IDE' or SATA?)
An AMD Athlon 64 X2-based motherboard will have this 'option' available, in BIOS. (That's exactly what mine does.)
Did he connect the Power cable to the 2nd h/drive, also?
This may explain 'why'....the Bios 'sees' the h/drive, but, not the XP OS.
Running a computer, in U.S.A., on India's Standard Time....also may be contributing. (If it only used, in a 'temporary state'...that is, while he is conversing/talking to relatives/friends...in India, it won't upset the BIOS Clock 'setting' option to his motheboard.)
If used on a regular basis, the BIOS will form a 'conflict' issue, throw things into disarray.(Some Programs just won't work properly...IF the Time Zone Setting is 'out-of sync'!)
Does Amarjeet know 'how-to-Format', using the "Format" process, via Disk Management?
Doubt it, as he has messed everything else up fairly good so far,......by not paying FULL attention...to Detail, as he was installing his new 2nd h/drive.
Ameerjet, when 'in doubt'.....please, refer to the Manual.
(Save yourself a lot of head-aches, if you do.)
