Why does my printer get stuck on "pause" with one up the spout?
Friday, 23 July, 2010
OLD QUESTION
Well, whenever I turn on my computer and print a document, the printer status is always on "pause" and it always says that it has 1 document(s) waiting or whatever. I have to restart my computer and then it automatically prints. As you know, this is very annoying especially when I have to restart my computer over and over again. My computer runs on Windows 98se and my printer is a Canon BJC-2100SP. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on fixing the problem.

Hi Benson. The first thing I'd do is go to the Canon web site http://www.canon.com.au and download the very latest drivers. Then uninstall any special software that drives the printer, and remove the printer via Start, Settings, Printers. Then restart the PC and when it discovers the printer, point it to the new files. (You may have to run the downloaded Canon software first).
It could also be that you have the "spool" setting such that it's causing the problem. Have you checked all the settings? Try setting it to "print direct to printer" or equivalent.
Make sure that the printer is not set to "paused" on your computer.
If that doesn't cure things, contact Canon. Paul Zucker

JCPosted: 24/07/2010 re: Why does my printer get stuck on When your printer comes up with this 'Pause' error, check out what is there in the Printing List, you can do this by right-clicking on the printer icon that shows up in the Task-bar (bottom Right corner).
There is a good chance that you have accidently given your printer
too many copies of the same Print job to do. (And, you wanting ONLY the one print-out have cancelled all the others.....by stopping your printer BEFORE it has proeperly finished it's printing task!)
If it is set(ticked)...on "Paused", untick it as PZ has suggested, THEN,click on the "Cancel ALL Documents".
Hopefully, this should CLEAR the List ......of pending print jobs, for your computer.
Worse case scenario?
Again, PZ has enlighten you to the best 'work-around' there is, and, that is, to UNINSTALL your Printer's software program (and, do a MANUAL search, to ensure that you really have uninstalled it all, afterwards).
Reinstall the software. (Preferrably the latest version/drivers available.)
As an 'after-thought', for those who think I am 'mirroring' PZ's advie (I am, because it is the proper way of doing it), whenever you are doing ANY printing simply DO NOT take things 'for granted'......always check via that 'Printer' icon, to make sure that your printer IS doing ONLY one copy.
(Which is usually most of us want to print, anyway.)
If more than one copy is required, how about letting the printer finish ......what you got it started on, in the first place, that way, you won't ever be bothered by that 'Pause' problem anymore, will you? aditya.pPosted: 22/07/2010 re: Why does my printer get stuck on. whenever, I turn my computer> it show the printer status as "Printer paused" its not possible for me to print any thing ..
I can scan and xerox files but printing is not possible..
The printer which i use is HP-inkjet F4400Series..
my computer runs on windows 7.
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESSIONS ON FIXING THIS PROBLEM.
(Go to the printer section in Control Panel and right-click on the printer. There may be a setting there to "unpause" the printer, or you can use the "troubleshooter" option. -PZ)
