What frequency is CH 31 Melbourne?

Wednesday, 25 June, 2008

What's the frequency of TV Channel 31 Melbourne please?

Ruby O'Rourke, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

Do you really want the frequency/ That's a fairly technical thing.

If so, check here.

But if you simply want to tune in the channel, here's some advice from the channel itself.

    General Tips
Channel 31 is transmitted on the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band. Televisions have tuners that allow different channel settings to be memorized and stored on pre - selected positions on the television. The instructions that came with your television set are the best guide for tuning as the methods vary from model to model, the instruction below are for some of the more common and some older sets.

    Manual tuning for UHF settings
Before tuning in you television set make sure the AFT (Automatic Fine Tuning) is switched off. On some sets this will occur automatically when the panel door or drawer is opened.

Rotating Turret tuner and UHF Fine Tuner

Turn the turret channel selector to U. Rotate the UHF fine tuner to 31 for the Mt Dandenong transmitter or 64 for the
Como transmitter. On some sets it may be necessary to press a VHF/UHF button. You may need to alter the band
selector in the tuning control section. The UHF band is identified on the television tuner with the letter U (VL, VH, U) or C (A, B, C) The set then needs to be fine tuned to frequency channel 31 for Mt Dandenong or frequency channel 64 for Como ( South Yarra ).

    Automatic tuning
Allow the set to scan all bands to find each individual channel and lock each into a nominated pre set channel. press the pre-set button and the tuning band VH(L), VH(H) or UHF will come onto the screen. The tuner will then automatically search for and memorize the television signals as they are located in order and display the number it has automatically allocated for each one.

    Press Button Sets
Each channel selection button has its own band selector switch and fine tuning control- any station can be tuned to any button. When Fine tuning is completed close the panel, drawer or door and turn on the Automatic Fine Tuning (AFT) Mt Dandenong Como Broadcaster Band selector Channel Band selector Channel 31 UHF (U) 31 UHF (U) 64
    ABC VHFL (LVL) 2 UHF(U) 61 Seven VHFH(VH) 7 UHF(U) 49 Nine VHFH(VH) 9 UHF(U) 52 Ten VHFH(VH) 10 UHF(U) 55 SBS UHF(U) 28 UHF(U) 58 Channel 31 can be found at 548.25 Mhz

Tuning in if you have a Digital Set Top Box
If you already have a digital set-top box, don’t despair!
Dedicated fans can switch between analogue and digital if they buy an extra antenna cable (also known as an "RF cable" or "fly-lead") and connect the Loop Through (or Antenna Out) connector on their digital set-top box to the Antenna In connector on their TV.

You will need to use two remote controls to switch between the set-top box and your favourite Community TV channel.

Ooooooooaaaaaaaa Paul :) I went to the first link on the page (frequencies and stuff ) Twas something I'd always been interested in looking at and boy were my eyes opened. TY Mate Cyas around.

(Hi Tony. There's lots of interesting stuff around the 'Net on this sort of thing. One fascinating point will be what happens to the freed-up spectrum as analogue TV is turned off over the world. -PZ)
