It’s been a while since we’ve seen a graphics card from Palit, which makes this GeForce GTX 560 Ti a little bit of a let-down. Despite having double the usual amount of memory in a GTX 560 card, and a price premium, there’s little additional performance on offer here. In theory, what you’re paying for is an additional A$40 for enough memory to stretch this GPU’s legs at higher resolutions and provide that little bit of extra performance when it’s at its performance ceiling. Sadly, in our experience (testing with the largest screen most users will buy) this wasn’t really the case, with frame rates at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels essentially identical to cheaper 1GB models.
Credit where it’s due, however: Palit has impressively squeezed this puppy onto a much smaller circuit board than other vendors (it’s still a full-height board, but only 20.5cm long), which may appeal to owners of cramped cases, but most will be better served by cheaper models.
